Greetings Topeka First UMC,

Holy Week is here! Last Sunday was an amazing celebration of Palm Sunday. Thank you to all of the children, youth, musicians, and staff that made Palm Sunday such a great celebration. The procession of the palms is one of the best events of the whole year!

As we progress through the rest of the week, I hope you will make plans to join us!

Maundy Thursday begins at 6:30 pm. Within this service, we will once again come to the table of the Lord as we remember that last night with his disciples. This service is very symbolic with many of the traditions of the church as part of the service.

Good Friday is a Tenebrae service. Tenebrae is a Latin word meaning darkness or shadows. At the service, we remember Jesus' last hours, as told through a series of readings. Each time we read, a candle is extinguished, until Jesus dies, and the last candle extinguished. the choir and bell choir will also be singing and playing between each reading.

Sunday is Easter! The theme for Easter Sunday is "Surprise!" I hope that you will join us at one of our three services. The 10:45 am service on Sunday will feature brass that are playing with the choir and beginning at 10:30 am before the service. The service times are the same as always, 8:15 am, 9:30 am, 10:45 am (which is also live-streamed). Please invite and bring friends and family this weekend!

Blessings,

Pastor Brad
