Pastor Brad's Note & Events--Feb. 3, 2023
Greetings Topeka First UMC, I hope that you are having a great week! This week got off to a great start with the Chief's win on Sunday night! This week has been very busy here at the church. The Board of Ordained Ministry has been conducting interviews for candidates for ministry. All of the interviews wrap up today. Thank you to the wonderful staff of our church for all of their work this week! Sunday is going to be an awesome day! In worship on Sunday, we are continuing our sermon series, "The Power of Connection." This week our focus will turn to forgiveness. One of the most difficult parts of connections is forgiving others and seeking forgiveness. When we find ourselves in those difficult moments, the depth of our relationships becomes very important. God calls us to forgive, but to what end? Join us Sunday for worship as we celebrate God's forgiveness, and our need to forgive others (and ourselves!). After the 10:45 service, we will be hosting "Pizza with the Pastor." If you are new to the church, interested in church membership or baptism, stick around for lunch, and a short time of discussion about the church, what it means to be United Methodist, etc... The State of the Church meeting will start at 5:00 pm with dinner, followed by the meeting at 6:00 pm. I hope you will take time to join us as we look at where we are as a church, and look at where we are going. Bring your questions as there will be a Q&A session at the end of the meeting. If you cannot join us live for the meeting, you can join us through the livestream at this link. Thank you to everyone who helped with our January Mission of the Month. Many people gave to the Let's Help GED Program! For February, our Mission of the Month (coordinated with both the Missions Team and Phase 2) is to collect men's hygiene items for the VA Sunflower Memory Center at the Colmery-O'Neil VA Hospital. They are in need of the following hygiene items: toothpaste/toothbrush, men's body wash/shampoo combo, men's spray deodorant (they can’t use roll on) and men's cologne. Bring donations and put in the basket in the Celebration Room under the Missions Team Board. Next Sunday, Feb. 12, the youth are having their SOUPer Bowl fundraiser from 9am-Noon. Plan to enjoy soup & rolls! You'll be able to eat here at church or get it to go. See you Sunday! Pastor Brad Upcoming Calendar Events:
