Urgent 3-Week Sack Lunch Ministry Starts Monday, June 29--Details inside--Topeka First UMC

Good Afternoon Topeka First UMC Family,

As you know, Catholic Charities has acquired the assets of Let's Help, Inc. and will be moving into the Let's Help facility at 245 SW MacVicar. The Catholic Charities location on Kansas Ave. has already closed and the vital sack lunch program is no longer available from that location.

Until the Catholic Charities completes their renovations on the MacVicar building and resumes their comumnity services on July 15 (daily meals, food assistance, & colthing support among other services), we will hand out sack lunches on Mondays from 11:30 am - 12:30 pm beginning June 29. Our plan is to Be the Bridge to community members in need by offering some meal assistance.

Laura Reiman, Director of Accessibility Ministries, will be leading this short-term sack lunch ministry. We plan to serve a cold-meat sandwich, fresh fruit, chips, and a bottle of water in each sack lunch. There are four ways you can help with this ministry.

• Volunteer to help package 100 sack lunches for the next 3 Sundays (June 28, July 5, & July 12) from Noon - 1:00 pm in the basement kitchen at church.
• Volunteer on Mondays (June 29, July 6, & July 13) from 11:30 am - 12:30 pm, to help distribute sack lunches from a table under the tree next to the playgound.
• Donate fresh fruit, buns, or water bottles.
• Support this ministry through a monetary donation through our website or in the memo of a check.
