Topeka First UMC News, Info., & Events
Greetings Topeka First UMC,
I hope you’re having a great week!
Last month, many of you participated in the "Be The Bridge” next steps survey. In comparing the two options moving forward, the votes came in at 52% to 48%. Because this vote is so close, the Executive team is looking at a few options. First, we are working with Bartlett West engineering to get an updated drawing of the portico, that will give us a better idea of what it would look like with windows in the hallway. As soon as this is completed, we will share it with you for comments and thoughts. Some after the drawing is distributed, we will have a church meeting to discuss our options to determine our next steps.
Coming up on Sunday, I hope you will join us as we continue our sermon series, “Homecoming.” Last week, we rejoiced in the knowledge that we can always come home to God, and there are always opportunities to help others come home to God. This Sunday will bring us to the location of home. Our theme is “Where is Home.” Throughout the scriptures, there are many examples of home and home comings. I hope you will join us Sunday as we think together about where is our home!
Beginning Wednesday, Sept. 16, adults are encouraged to join Pat Yancey, Director of Caring Ministries & Worship Arts, for an evening "Second helping" of each Sunday's message. He'll dig deeper into the scripture and help us discover how to live it out. Dinner is served first at 6 pm followed by the 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm class. They'll be 6 weeks of class. Sign up at the Connection Desk or call the church to RSVP: 785-233-8100.
See you Sunday,
Pastor Brad
