A Letter to the Congregation of Topeka First UMC

Topeka First United Methodist Church
Greetings from Pastor Sandra Nyembo to Topeka First UMC

A Letter to the Congregation of Topeka First UMC

from Pastor Sandra Nyembo who starts on July 1

Dear Beloved Topeka First UMC Family,

Grace and peace be unto you in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! It is with great joy and gratitude that I extend a warm and heartfelt welcome to all of you as we embark on this new chapter together as a congregation.

As your newly appointed Associate Pastor, I am humbled and honored to have the privilege of serving alongside you in ministry, worship, and fellowship. I am filled with excitement and anticipation for the journey that lies ahead, and I am eager to get to know each of you and to walk alongside you in faith, hope, and love.

I am Sandra Fatuma Nyembo, born in Kolwezi and raised in Lubumbashi in the Democratic Republic of Congo/Africa. I am the middle child in a family of three girls. I am married to Terry Ngalu who is also a clergy currently serving a 3-point charge (St. Marys, Emmet, and Bellevue UMC). Together we have two children: Chrisma Ngalu (she is with the Lord) and Djesse Ngalu 10 years old.

I am currently serving as a pastor at the Rossville UMC. I pursued an education in Computer Science from the Katanga Methodist University and a Bachelor of Biology with a minor in discipleship from Southwestern College, and in August I am starting a Master of Divinity program at SMU/Perkins School of Theology.

Outside of ministry, I enjoy spending time with my family and exploring nature. I find joy in simple moments of connection and believe in the importance of cultivating meaningful relationships in both personal and professional spheres.

In the days and weeks to come, my prayer is that we will grow together in our relationship with God and with one another and that we will be a beacon of light and hope to our community and the world around us. May God bless you abundantly, and may His peace and presence be with you always.

With love and blessings,

Pastor Sandra F. Nyembo
