Topeka First UMC News, Info., & Events, Oct. 31, 2025
Greeting Topeka First UMC, I hope that you are having a great week! First, thank you to everyone who participated in the Church Conference on Tuesday night. The final vote was 75 yes, 12 no, and 2 abstentions. The Nominations Team is working to get the new Leadership Council assembled. We will keep you updated as we move into this new phase of ministry. Tomorrow (Saturday) is our Fall clean up around the outside and inside of the church from 8 am - 11 am. Thank you too so many of you who have come to the church this week and volunteered to dust the inside of the church! We've dusted almost half of the church but still have 39 more areas that need attention. While Dave Hutchinson is leading the outdoor clean up, Shawna Heien will be leading the rest of the indoor clean up. Plan to join us in taking care of our beautiful church! The remodel is moving right along! This Sunday we are back in the Klasse Chapel! I am excited to worship in our newly renovated space! The ramp, the Morris Family Hearth Room & the Library will be open (although the furniture won't be in place) and we will once again be able to walk through the rooms. The refinished floors are beautiful! This Sunday we celebrate All Saints Sunday and we will remember all the saints that have gone before us and have joined the great cloud of witnesses. As we remember the saints, our theme will remind us of the ways we measure time now and, in the life to come. We are serving Holy Communion this week during all three services. There is a need for a few coat/jackets and gloves/hats that we can have on hand for our neighbors in need. Please see Laura this Sunday morning or send the church an email with questions about these donations. As you've probably heard, the SNAP benefits have ended and many who rely upon these food subsidys may be in a desparate situation. Beginning Monday, the Topeka Rescue Mission will start serving boxed meals for anyone who needs food. This will be given out their back window during lunch and dinner every day. There is no cost and is for anyone who needs food. If you enjoy reading scripture and saying prayer, please use this link to sign up to be a liturgist at the 10:45 am service. The last spot open is Nov. 16.. If you have questions about being a liturgist, see Shawna. Blessings, Pastor Brad |
