Pastor E-NoteFinding Hope Greetings Topeka First UMC, I hope that you are enjoying the wonderful weather this week! This has been another busy week in the life of our church! The Mobile Access Partnership (MAP) was set up in our parking lot on Tuesday and Thursday this week. MAP provides food, clothing, showers, and other necessary services for our friends who are currently experiencing homelessness. Thank you to the many volunteers who help MAP possible. Our youth group has been working hard preparing for the 1st Annual youth group dinner theater. Dinner theaters have been a part of the youth ministries that I have led over the past 20 years. The idea is for the youth to learn scripture through acting out skits that are light, funny, and make for a fun evening together. Pastor Grace and I have put together six skits that we think you will enjoy, with dinner and a silent auction. All proceeds will be used for the youth mission trip this summer. The dinner theater will be Saturday and Sunday nights this weekend, beginning at 5:00 pm. Don't worry if you haven't boughtyour $10 ticket yet. You can get a ticket at the door of Fellowship Hall Saturday or Sunday. In worship on Sunday, we will continue our sermon series, "Finding Hope," which is particularly focused on how our faith can bring us hope when we are faced with mental health struggles. Last week, we looked at finding light and hope in the midst of the difficult or dark times in our lives. This Sunday, we will explore how we find hope in the midst of anxiety. I hope you will join us as we explore how God understands our anxiety and sends us the Holy Spirit to help us reduce harmful anxiety so that we can have abundant life. This Sunday is also Native American Sunday in the United Methodist Church. Bishop David Wilson and some members of the Committee on Native American Ministries have put together this six-minute video that invites people to give to the special fund set up for Native American Ministries Sunday. If you'd like to support the Native American Ministries, you can simply write "NAMS" in the memo of a check or even by giving online (click on the drop down arrow to select the correct fund)! Please continue to use these links to sign up to help with greeting, serving communion, or reading liturgy or see Shawna. See you Sunday, Pastor Brad
