Pastor E-NoteFinding Hope Greetings Topeka First UMC, I hope that you are having a great week! Easter Sunday was a wonderful celebration of Resurrection! Thank you to all of the staff, musicians, and our church family for such a great day! If you were unable to join us, our theme emphasized that because the tomb is empty, God fills the void in the life to come and in our life today. As part of the message, Pastor's Grace, Karissa, and myself reimagined the Beatitudes to name how God fills the void in our lives today. Here is the video clip from Easter when we read the modern day Beatitudes. The youth dinner theater is just over a week away. On Wednesday night during youth group, we worked through the skits that the youth will be performing. All of the skits are based on biblical stories and are sure to bring about a lot of laughs! Dinner will include tacos, chips and salsa, and a wide variety of desserts. We also have a silent auctionnand are looking for more items that might be auctioned off (services, experiences, or physical items). The Dinner Theater is a fundraiser that will help the youth raise money for their mission trip this summer to Denver, Colorado. Tickets are available for Saturday, April 13, 5 pm or Sunday, April 14, 5 pm. A new sermon series "Finding Hope" begins this Sunday. In this season of Resurrection, we will search for hope in the midst of many of the difficult and darker times in our lives. The hope of Resurrection reminds us that God is with us in the good times and is especially with us through the more difficult times. This week, we will look at our need for God's presence as we walk through those difficult times. Over the course of this sermon series, "Finding Hope" is meant to help us especially in the midst of mental health struggles. Over the next few weeks we will look at themes that deal with anxiety, shame, and depression. This Sunday, we will start by looking at Resurrection stories, and living into our faith as God is with us and guiding us when life is the hardest. Thank you to everyone who was able to help greet, serve communion, or read liturgy during our last sermon series! It is wonderful to have so many help during our worship services. Please click the link and find a spot that'll fit into your schedule for greeting, serving communion, or reading liturgy or see Shawna. See you Sunday, Pastor Brad

Children's MinistryTHANK YOU! Thank you to all our volunteers who helped make the 2024 Downtown Easter Egg Hunt a success a couple weekends ago! We had about 500 kids attend the hunt, play carnival games, and take a picture with the Easter Bunny. We look forward to working with other Downtown Topeka churches again as we support our community. |
