Pastor E-NoteMaundy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter Sunday Greetings Topeka First UMC, I hope that you are having a great Holy Week. It was exciting to see so many children & families at the Easter Egg Hunt on the Capitol lawn last Saturday followed by so many waving palms during our Palm Sunday celebration! Holy week is here! Please join us in person or online as we worship together. Maundy Thursday service will be at 7:00 pm in the Chapel with our praise band leading us in music. The service celebrates the Last Supper and ends with the stripping of the chancel, a reminder that Jesus is alone and about to be arrested. Good Friday Tenebrae service (service of shadows) will be at 7:30 pm in the Sanctuary led by our chancel choir and accompanied by violin. As the story of Jesus' final moments are read, the sanctuary will grow darker and darker, until we read of Jesus' death. Of course, this is not the end of the story.... Easter Sunday is the celebration of resurrection! Jesus has overcome even death! The theme for Easter Sunday is "Filling the Void." On Easter we celebrate that the tomb is empty, but our hearts are full of God's love. Special music featuring “The Brass” begins at 10:30 am followed by our Bell Choir opening Easter Service at 10:45 am! See you soon, Pastor Brad PS, A photo booth will be set up in the Celebration room for pictures as well! -------------------------------------- As a reminder, the office is closed on Monday, April 1. ------------------------------------- Thank you to everyone who has utilized these online links to sign up to help with Sunday mornings.
