In Memory of Patricia A. Swearingen

Patricia A. Swearingen, 86 of Topeka passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2025. She was born on April 26, 1939 at Concordia, Kansas the daughter of Kenneth and Mabel (Roberts) Newton. She was raised at Tecumseh, later attending Highland Park High School, where she was cheerleader and homecoming queen. She graduated with the class of 1957. She later attended Washburn University.

On April 17, 1960 Patricia was united in marriage to Daniel K. Swearingen at Lowman United Methodist Church.

Pat was the Business Administrator for First United Methodist Church in Topeka for over 15 years prior to retiring in the late 1990’s.

She was very active in Delta Gamma Sorority. She was a national officer for over 20 years, receiving numerous awards and accolades for her work and dedication. Pat volunteered at the Designer Show House, CASA Home for the Holiday’s. Pat was a member of P.E.O. and First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband Daniel K. Swearingen of Topeka; daughter, Kim Swearingen of Topeka; Brad Swearingen and wife Theresa of Topeka; grandsons, Dylan Swearingen of Topeka, Cullen Swearingen and wife Jessa of Topeka and Leighton Swearingen of Lebanon, Missouri; great grandson, Cohen Swearingen of Topeka; sister, Linda Gilbert and husband Gary of Tecumseh, Kansas and Dennis Newton and wife Cindy of Gardner, Kansas and her nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the Legends at Capital Ridge and to St. Croix Hospice for their loving care.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, November 21, 2025 beginning at 2:00 pm at Dove Cremations and Funerals Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker, Topeka, Kansas 66610. Memorial contributions may be made to Delta Gamma Foundation, 3250 Riverside Drive, Columbus Ohio, 43221.
