Wednesday News from Pastor Brad

Greetings Topeka First UMC,

As we are in the midst of the remodel and so many other things happening in the life of our church, I'm writing to you today about another addition to our church family. In our 9:30 am service, we have an excellent band that has been together for many years. Amy Schumacher has been the worship leader for 28 years and for a while now has been thinking about retiring from her leadership role. Amy and I have been talking about her desire to still be a part of the band but allow someone else to prepare and lead during worship. I know we are all so appreciative of Amy and her excellence in leading the band. Once the idea of a new worship leader was presented to the Leadership Council and the Staff Parish Relations Team, we began having conversations and an excellent candidate quickly emerged. I am excited to announce that beginning August 31, Hannah Sullivan will be the Worship Leader for our 9:30 am service. Here is a little about Hannah:

Hannah Sullivan has been a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church, attending Shawnee United Methodist Church as a child and youth, and Countryside United Methodist Church during her college years. Hannah has been serving with worship teams for over 10 years and in leadership for 4. Hannah has completed summer internships in Episcopal and Disciples of Christ churches, twice focusing on youth and children's ministry, and once on music ministry. She is currently the full-time Choir Director at Ottawa High School, where she also assists with the musical. She is so excited to join the staff and congregation at Topeka First and looks forward to meeting everyone officially soon!
