Pastor E-Note
Dear Church Family, Pastor Grace here! This Sunday I’ll be sharing a message titled “Love Without Limits,” based on Galatians 5:13-14;6:2. In this passage, Paul reminds us that we are called to a life of freedom, not to serve ourselves, but to serve others with love and compassion. This is especially relevant in our fast-paced world where it can be easy to prioritize our own needs over the call to bear one another’s burdens. I’ll be sharing some of my calling as a deacon being in relationship with people experiencing homelessness in Portland, OR. It was a humbling time in my life that taught me about love, vulnerability, and what it truly means to live in relationship with those who challenge us and call us deeper into service. This message is for all of us. It’s about the need to step out of our comfort zones and build relationships with people who might not look like us, think like us, or live like us. I encourage you to join us in worship this week and listen for how God is calling you. Please pray for me as I prepare to be in worship with you all! The Surviving the Holiday Workshop is tomorrow, Saturday, November 16, from 9 am - 12 pm here at church. It is a time to talk about different ways to remember your missing family member. Email us if you haven't already let us know you're coming. The United Women in Faith will be in the Celebration Room this Sunday for their annual Pecan fundraiser. Stop by the table to purchase pecans before they sell out! We had a couple people let us know of their interest in the potential Lunch Buddies program at our mission partner, Scott Dual Language Magnet school. If you have one hour a week during the school year and are interested in having lunch with a school child, please email Shawna at shawna@fumctopeka.org to indicate your interest. Please sign up to greet this Sunday (really through the rest of the year...) by using this link. Peace, Pastor Grace
