Celebrating the Birth of Christ!

Join Us For Advent

Advent is the four week period when we, as followers of Jesus, anxiously wait for Christmas day and the celebration of Christ's birth. We have a number of exciting and meaningful opportunities connected to Advent this year. Find some ways that you might connect more deeply to the Church and to Christ this Advent!

Advent Sermon Series

Please join each Sunday November 29 through December 20 at 10:30  as we rediscover the significance of Christmas with our Advent sermon series based on the Book: Incarnation.

Best selling author Adam Hamilton examines the meaning behind the names of Christ, giving historical and spiritual significance of his birth and how the meaning behind the names might affect the difference he makes in our lives this Christmas.

White Gift Sunday

White Gift Sunday is one of many ways that we live out our vision as a congregation that connects, grows, and serves for the good of the city. The gifts given directly support the residents of the Rescue Mission, one of our Strategic Mission Partners. No matter the size or cost, the gifts are an expression of love on the part of the giver which is pure, true and unselfish, therefore, each gift should be a wrapped in white paper.

Due to COVID 19, TRM is requesting only blankets, linens and money this year. Help us build upon this valued tradition by bringing your gift to the church office before Sunday, December 13. Together we can spread Christmas joy and a spirit of thanksgiving throughout Topeka.

Christmas Eve Worship Opportunities

Two on-line Celebrations will be available all day at www.forthegoodofthecity.org/Christmas.  One will be a Family Focused Celebration, the other a Traditional Candlelight Celebration.

Downtown Topeka Christmas Windows

Enjoy downtown Topeka Christmas window displays. The Greater Topeka Partnership is sponsoring a window decorating contest for store windows along Kansas Avenue. Our Downtown Engagement Team will be decorating the the windows at 735 S. Kansas Ave., a property owned by AIM Strategies.

The windows will be on display starting December 1 and judging will occur December 21st. There’s a $500 prize for the winning window! If won, Topeka First UMC will donate the winnings to Topeka Rescue Mission.

Please plan to come by and vote for our display - and encourage your family and friends to do the same!
